Bella’s footsteps echoed against the pavement as she ran to her next destination. Adrenaline still flowed through her veins like a drug, keeping her overly-alert an energized. She grinned, looking at her cell phone; tonight’s prize.
Mr. Desperate certainly thought he had her cornered, but she was neither drunk nor impaired as he’d thought. She didn’t need to drink tonight; her senses were already heightened. “Let’s make a deal,” Mr. Desperate had told her. “A kiss for your phone.” Bella had looked at him as though he’d grown a second head. “How about this deal: you give me my phone and you get to keep your teeth,” Bella had responded. Mr. Desperate had stared at her, doubting that she was much of a threat. He’d only chuckled and wrapped his arm around her, yanking her flush against him. But before he knew it, his arm was twisted behind his back and he could feel Bella’s knee pressed into his lower vertebrae. It was in that moment that Bella snatched her phone and pushed him to the ground, dashing off without a moment’s delay. She grinned and redialed Adam's number now. "Hey, I'm almost at your place. Wanna go somewhere?"
