ABOUT mISHAYE
Place of Birth: Delhi, India |
Mishaye's PersonalityShaye is a studious and ambitious young woman. She loves her daughter more than anything but puts her career and studies at a high priority. Many people consider her to be cold, but deep down she has a genuine heart.
Mishaye's BackgroundAs a child, Mishaye's mother, Ziya, wanted o be a doctor but her family was poor and unable to send her to school. As a result, Ziya was trained to be a wife and mother. Her parents arranged a marriage to a wealthy farmer twice her age when she was just seventeen years old. The man died from a stroke not long after their marriage, and by then Ziya had fallen in love with a builder, Rajeesh Jha.
Rajeesh soon began to build a home for them and they moved in together. Ziya started giving back to the community, searching for ways to find purpose in her life. She began working at a local orphanage, helping with the children and learning some healthcare in the midst. Months after Ziya discovered she was pregnant, Rajeesh died when part of the house he was building collapsed on him. |
Even through her mourning, Ziya continued to work at the orphanage, pouring her all into helping the children there. In year 84, Ziya met Elias Jeremy Barthel and, instantly, they became close friends. One day, while they were going for a walk to help Ziya with the restlessness she'd been feeling, Ziya began active labour. (Full story).
Elias ended up delivering Ziya's baby girl right out there in the grass. Ziya gave her the name Mishaye Kairwi; the first name meaning gift of love and the second name meaning moon's light - because to the moonlight that shone down on them. Grateful for the gift that Elias had helped bring into this world, Ziya asked Elias to be Mishaye's kobefather.
When Mishaye was 2 years old, Ziya fell ill, and shortly after summoning the Carmichael-Barthel family to India, she passed away. Her last dying wish was for Eli and Aelin to legally adopt Mishaye and provide her with a better life than she could've ever provided for her. It took Shaye a while to grow accustomed to life in England with a new family, but eventually she warmed up.
Between the end of year 89 and the beginning of year 90, tragedy struck Mishaye's new family. On a trip to India, her adoptive father, Eli was murdered by a mugger. Months later, in England, her adoptive mother, Aelin, was killed by a hit-and-run driver. Mishaye was adopted by Eli's eldest brother, Rico and Rico's wife Cecilia. She gained two adoptive older sisters and an adoptive younger brother. Her sister, Athena, was adopted by her aunt Belie and loved to South Africa.
For a few months after being adopted by Rico and Cecilia, Shaye remained silent. She eventually found comfort in her new family. Her adoptive parents made sure that she was also exposed to Indian culture, taking her to Hindi language lessons and classical Indian dance classes. Still, Shaye always felt as though something was missing, until she began reading her father's journals. Shaye wanted to be a doctor from a young age. She was accepted in a pre-med program in which she excelled.
In the beginning of her studies as a pre-med program, she met a photography student Julian Strauss. She quickly fell for him and their relationship went strong until about a year later when Shaye discovered that she was pregnant. Determined to succeed in school, she terminated the pregnancy without discussing it with Julian. They then broke up, but had on and off relations. Shaye also had a fling with Ishaan Malhotra (NPC), who later on becomes her attending in during her internship.
Shaye's best friend Johnny moved to LA, but upon returning to New York, they became friend's with benefits. Their relationship became fully platonic again when Johnny began dating, but after Johnny and his boyfriend broke up, he travelled to India with Shaye for a summer. Weeks after returning to London and Johnny moving to Paris to pursue his love for art, Shaye found out that she was pregnant with Johnny's child.
Half of her pregnancy was kept secret, and once she revealed her pregnancy to Johnny, they began seeking adoptive parents for their child. However, when Davina was born, Johnny and Shaye realised that they didn't have it in their hearts to give up their daughter. They made a decision to co-parent.
Shaye is currently doing her residency but is yet to declare a specialty. She lives in an apartment with Davina. Johnny lives out of the country with his boyfriend but he keeps in touch with Shaye and Davina.
