She was talking herself again, trying to talk herself out of the darkness she could feel approaching. She refused to go back there again. Not when she had an obligation—mentoring Belie, travelling the world. Then there was the bigger picture. The conservatory. The camp. She absentmindedly rubbed her leg as she gnawed on these thoughts.
“Idiot,” she mumbled to herself. “Hurting yourself on that gods-forsaken mountain. Moron. And now you have the audacity to even think of entering a fighting tournament. They'll skin you alive!” “Did you say something?” Belie asked, walking into the hotel room. “Not to you,” said Bella. Belie held her hands up in surrender and backed out of the room. She knew better than to bother Bella when she was in a foul mood. Bella felt bad, but it was best she remained by herself anyway. Or was it… “No, Belie. Come back here,” she said, sighing heavily. Belie re-entered the room. “So we’re stuck here until this damn leg of mine recovers again. But we might as well plan our next step, huh?” She didn’t give Belie a chance to reply. “The herb trade business is slow. I’ve been away from the restaurant for a while, so there’s some more income lost. I could enter a fighting tournament--" She ignored Belie's frown. "But with this leg..." She sighed heavily. "Maybe YOU need to get a job.” She smirked at her. Belie frowned but Bella gave her a look. “Just so we can get some extra money to get started on what we want to do. We can’t keep having these… distractions. Or else we’re never gonna accomplish what we want to accomplish. So… Where do we go from here, Belie?” she asked. She left the answer up to her apprentice. "You think, I sleep." She said. She held her thumb up to Belie and stood up from the couch, hobbling out of the living room area. "Oh and start packing," she added. "We're getting out of this cold place by tomorrow evening."

Bella awoke to her alarm clock blaring in her ears. She groaned and slapped her hand against the snooze button, only to have to shriek five minutes later. She sighed and sat up, dismissing the alarm. Grabbing her phone, she saw that it was Belie's birthday and immediately a grin came to her face. They'd been wanting to go on an adventure lately; she was sure Belie wouldn't mind being 'kidnapped', so to speak.
Climbing out of bed, Bella quickly freshened up in the bathroom before sneaking into the kitchen. She tip-toed past Belie, asleep on the sofa couch, and headed into the kitchen to quickly whip up some breakfast. By the time they'd finished eating, Belie was receiving phone calls from family who were still in London--namely Teun, Zelda, Isa... Okay, no kidnapping, Bella thought. She waited until later on in the afternoon, and just as Belie was settling down in front of the TV to relax, Bella walked into the living room, dressed to go out. "No more sitting inside," she said. "Come on." She grinned and waited rather impatiently for Belie to get dressed. Once they were out of the door, they took the metro to London and began walking around, simply enjoying being in town. A stop at a bakery, some selfies (because Belie insisted), and at last they arrived at the London Eye. "Happy birthday, my loyal apprentice," said Bella. "I promise we'll go on a real adventure soon." |
