Date of Birth: Day 56, Year 36 |
Rosa's PersonalityAt a glance, Rosa seems to be confident and strong-willed, but she is very secretive and is greatly affected by what others think about her. As posh and ladylike as she may seem on the surface, she has a wild, fiery side. She's known to have quite a mild temper, but she is defensive of her family and is a nurturer first and foremost. Most people who know her knows she has a tendency to take care of others before herself.
Rosa's BackgroundRosa was born in year 36 to Alice Lawrence and Terrence Rosewell (NPCs). At the time, Alice was a student in London, but soon, along with Terrence, she moved back to her hometown of Melbourne, Australia. At the age of 7, Rosa lost her father to a heart attack and at the same time watched her mother sink into severe depression. The majority of Rosa's childhood was spent in the care of her nanny, whom she only ever knew as "Nana." Since Nana had a housein the Outback, Rosa has many fond memories of the adventures she had in her nanny's jeep, along the vast plains. From the age of 13 to 15, Rosa practically lived with Nana, assisting in cattle drives and giving horseback riding lessons to children. Near Rosa's 16th birthday, Rosa's mother took her away from the life she enjoyed and moved them back to Nottingham, England.

It wasn't until age 16 when Rosa finally sought independence and made a life of her own. She fell in love with Roy Barthel and began working on her career. Originally, she had dreams of becoming a number one jazz pianist and singer, but along the way, she met new friends, formed new bonds, and soon enough she was touring with her family as part of a new classical band called Frozen Spirit. Roy and Rosa were married from Year 53 to Year 64. During these years, Rosa gave birth to 4 of their children (Rico, Lorenzo, Isabella and Jari) and adopted 1 (Amanda). Elias Jeremy was born while Rosa and Roy were divorced. In Year 64, Rosa and Roy remarried, only to divorce for a second time at the end of Year 72.
Rosa had many careers. Apart from her musical career, Rosa was also a Club franchise owner, restauranteer, and a teacher at Amsterdam's Next Generation Project (NGP).
Rosa is a woman who is very guarded of her emotions. She once wore her heart on her sleeve, but after having her trust broken on various occasions, she has very few she still trusts. Rosa has 8 children--6 biological (2 of which are deceased) and two adopted. She also had 3 kobechildren (all adults now: Ella Hake, Jonah McCauley, and Hayden van Alebeek) and 11 grandchildren (Emilia, Angelo, Eliana, Niccolò, Lucie, Rhea, Jesse, Athena, Mishaye, Mya and Eryn).
In year 76, Rosa married her good friend, Teun van Loon in their home in South Yarra, Australia. Before they were even engaged, they welcomed a new, unexpected blessing (Aubrey) into the family. While this little miracle was totally unexpected, Rosa and Teun can't imagine not having Aubrey in their lives. Rosa spent most of her life touring, but retired approximately a year after Aubrey's birth and settled down in South Yarra. When Aubrey turned 6 years old, Teun and Rosa relocated to England to be closer to some of their loved ones, but mainly to enroll Aubrey in the school system that the majority of their children attended.
In Year 82, Rosa received grave news about the death of her ex-husband, Roy, and two of their sons Lorenzo and Jari. Their deaths momentarily put a toll on the Barthel family, but Roy, Lorenzo, and Jari live on in the memories of their siblings and mother.
Currently, Rosa and Teun are full time foster parents and also the proud grandparents of many, many, many grandchildren! They live in Chelsea, London, England with Aubrey and their newly-adopted son Rhys.
Rosa has only one surviving photograph from her childhood. Because of this, she vowed to document countless moments of her children's lives, and hence she's made two scrapbook pages for each of them (one on their 13th birthdays and the second on their 16th).
