Everything was too loud. From the bass reverberating in her chest to the cheers of those rowdy partygoers around her. What was she thinking? Wandering into a place like this. The club was no place for a girl who loved the countryside. Yet, something was keeping her here.
Perhaps it was the happiness that seemed to ooze from those in the environs. Or perhaps it was drunkenness. Either way, they still seemed happy. Happy-drunk. Whatever. Bella rolled her eyes and ambled up to the counter, climbing onto the stool. A guy nearby clearly had his eyes on her, but she just scoffed and turned the other way. Playing hard to get? No, just not in the mood to be taken. “What would it be?” the handsome bartender inquired, winking at her. Bella thought about it. But with not much prior experience with alcohol, she didn’t have a clue. She withdrew a cig and a lighter from her bag, taking her slow time to light it before she replied. “Surprise me.” She smirked and took a long drag on her cigarette. A few minutes later, she had a martini in front of her. She took a sip and grinned. Perhaps it wasn’t so bad here after all.
