Bella wiped her brow for he gazillionth time, panting with thirst. How long had it been? Hours? Days? She squinted, trying to make out the images across the desert. With a sigh, she leaned heavily against the rock, closing her eyes. Maybe just a small nap...
She tried to recall her reason for being here. At first, she hadn't even considered flocking to Johannesburg as everyone else had. Then, she began hearing great talk of mystical happenings, healings, and mystery items obtained. It was the perfect opportunity... if it were all true. Sure she was cynical, but it was worth the try. It would take a miracle to fix this... Something she hadn't even had the guts to tell anyone. Except for Isa, perhaps. Startling, she sat up, squinting in the distance again. Was it the effect of exhaustion and dehydration, or was that cactus singing? Somewhere within delirium she wondered if she'd lose herself. If healing would equal to the disintegration of her very essence. But who was she anyway? The person she'd been born or the one she was becoming? She was always a black sheep, but now it was starting to get to her, just a bit. She was... abnormal. Some would say unique, but they didn't know the half of it. Groaning in annoyance, she stood up. Was that an oasis? Her mouth was literally watering as she took a step forward. Well... hopefully getting lost would help her find herself. And a slightly new identity a that. Or perhaps, she'd leave the same way she entered. As barren as the desert itself.
