Amanda was wary. After visiting the pediatrician, both hers and Niels' minds had been put at ease. Their baby girl, indeed, just had the common cold; no cause for too much concern. Yet, time was passing and Elia didn't seem to be getting any better. Her fever was gone, but that was about the only symptom cured. Her cough remained.
Today, the weather was too lovely to stay indoors, so along with the Barthel family and Emi's friend Maddie, they spent some time in Central Park. Both Rhea and Elia were rather cranky while the older kids were more than thrilled to be there. They were thrilled with the animals they got to see in the Central Park zoo, the ice-cream trucks, and the playground was the greatest attraction. However, somehow the outdoors seemed to make Elia cough even more. "I thought some fresh air would do her well," Amanda remarked to Niels. She frowned at their coughing baby girl. "Maybe we need a second medical opinion?" "You think so?" Niels asked. "She seems okay now, though." He smiled at Elia who seemed to be enjoying the swings more than anything else they'd tried. Her crankiness was long forgotten. Gradually, Amanda's worry faded as Elia seemed to be having more fun in the swings. Amanda was gifted with big smiles and happy babbles every once in a while, but after some time, Elia fell asleep in the middle of all the fun. It was a rather cute sight,. Just as expected, Uncle Rico was there, snapping photos of the rare moment. "I think it's time we headed home," said Amanda, laughing at the situation.
