I just finished reading the Hunger Games series, and I saw the movie. I just have to say: I wish I could be just like Katiss. They lived in a world where there had once been 13 Districts. However, there was a war and District 13 was destroyed, leaving the "Capitol" in power. Kids from the Capitol never had to be entered into the 'reaping' for the Hunger Games, but kids from 12 years old to 18 years old had to be entered into the Games. For the Games, one boy and one girl are chosen from each District. They're taken to the Capitol for some training and then they're put into an arena to fight to the death. That way, the Capitol can show the districts that they still have control over everyone's lives. The people from the Capitol look so crazy. They wear some very interesting outfits, dye their hair and skin, and have the weirdest tattoos, because they could waste their money on those things. The other districts are so poor that they have to fight in the Games just to be fed. Katinss' little sister, Prim is chosen from District 12, but Katniss takes her place instead. She has to fight for her life in the arena, but she is AMAZING with her bow and arrow. In the end, the lesson learned is that love and clever thinking conquers all. If Katniss and Peeta weren't in love (or pretending to be in love) then they would have both been killed. But they worked together! My favourite pieces from the soundtrack are Katniss Afoot and Learning the Skills by James Newton Howard.
