A girl... A girl... The words sunk into Niels’ mind slowly. He couldn’t believe this. It only looked like yesterday when he had first seen his child on the sonogram, even less long ago when he had first felt her move. He and Amanda had wondered since what the child would be, and now they knew. They were having a daughter. A smile made Niels’ lips curl. He was pleased about this, although a boy wouldn’t have been bad. Not at all, he would have been just as pleased with that. But the news they were having a baby girl made him glow on the inside. He had always thought they’d have a girl first... Somehow he knew it from back when they were teens.
He looked at his Amanda, who was looking at the gynaecologist in awe for a moment. How she would like this, even more when their little girl was bigger. She could teach her things and spend fun mother-daughter time with her. Niels looked forward to them doing this, but he hoped he would have a chance of spending fun time with her as well. And no doubt that would happen. Niels’ thoughts wandered off for a moment. He wanted to create a nursery here in Paris for their child, one that would please his daughter when she grew a bit older too, he hoped. Ideas began flooding his mind, but he didn’t want to share them with his wife yet, for he wanted it to be a surprise to her as well. He knew he had to search for some help when selecting the furniture though, but he had some ideas for that. But first, he decided, he would ask Amanda if she wanted to visit their family, both sides of it, for Christmas, so they could tell them the good news in person. Congratulations on our baby girl sweetheart!
