The minister looked at Niels, smiling as she asked Niels to say his vows. Niels looked at Amanda and begun to talk: “My beautiful love, Ever since we’ve met, I value your love above anything else, and today we’re here to bind ourselves to the other until eternity. Today, I promise you I’ll be yours and yours alone, from now until the end of days. I promise you to be there for you, in happy times and in bad times. When you cry, I will try to make you smile. When you smile, I’ll be sure to tell you so. I promise you I will be good to you, I promise you to be there for you. From this day forth, you will be my wife, my blood, my life... I will keep you safe from harm and I will catch a bullet for you if I have to. Amanda van Loon, I love you!” ![]() After speaking these words, Niels it was Amanda’s turn. Her vows made Niels smile, looking into her eyes through her veil. Once they were done, they looked at the minister, who looked at Niels: “Niels van Loon , will you take Amanda Pontremoli to be your lawfully wedded wife?” Niels smiled after sighing softly, saying loudly: “Yes, I do!” After that, he looked at Amanda, smiling as his eyes met hers. The minister asked Amanda the same thing. Amanda said yes as well, and Niels smiled widely. He took a ring from the pillow and slid it onto Amanda’s finger. Amanda did the same to him. Then the minister look at him, saying: “You may now kiss the bride!” Niels turned to Amanda and carefully lifted her veil: “Hello my love.” he whispered before gently pressing his lips against hers.

Niels was waiting at the altar. As he looked through the crowd sitting in the New York cathedral, he could see many familiar faces. His dad and Rico were standing next to him, and in the crowds he could see his younger sisters Zelda and Belie, as well as Amanda’s siblings. He smiled for a moment, even though his stomach protested a little.
He had heard many stories before of girls, of women who had gotten cold feet on the last moment, who decided to call it all off because they didn’t show. His stomach turned around, hoping that would not be the case today. Today he hoped to see Amanda shine, to see her happier than he had ever seen her before. If he managed to put a smile on her face, he would be happy. He took a few deep breaths, thinking of Amanda’s smile. It calmed him, it made clear to him she would be there, for he could impossibly doubt her love. His dad put a hand on his shoulder: “Relax son, I know this can be tough… She’ll show…” It made Niels laugh softly to hear these words from his dad, but he nodded after all. He looked at the door of the cathedral, waiting eagerly for the moment his bride would arrive… He was grateful for the people who were here, for the fact they supported him. He knew for sure there were friends to him and Amanda in the cathedral, and he was glad they were there to witness the wedding. As the music began to play, he woke from his thoughts. He looked at the entrance only to see Amanda walking in. It robbed him of his breath to see her, that beautiful she looked. A soft sigh escaped him, his belly fluttering with butterflies. She walked towards the altar slowly, and Niels’ heart began to beat faster. He smiled, his eyes fixed on her as the guests threw flowers along the aisle. She looked amazing, that much he knew for sure. And so, the wedding could begin, with bride and groom there. He looked at her as she whispered a greeting and whispered back: “Hi to you too!” |
