Niels smiled, looking at their little girl as he carried her to her bedroom in his father's villa. The little girl had collapsed on the couch, after a day of fun on the beach.
Niels could hardly believe his daughter was 6 years old already, even more since it seemed like yesterday when they had hosted her "unbirthday party" in London last year. And to get even better, this year Niels and Amanda had decided they could host a beach party for her. They had invited their family that was present in town. Once at the beach, Emi had constantly been playing with her younger brother, with Aubrey and sometimes with her aunties, uncle, granny and grandpa. The remainder of the time, she spent looking at Lucie, randomly asking questions about her to her auntie Ceci and her uncle Rico. She wanted to know all about little Lucie, but after some time she wandered off, gathering seashells whenever she found them. After an amazing day with their family, Niels and Amanda gathered their sleepy kids, heading for the villa once more. When they got home, Amanda had gone off to create a collage, leaving the kids with Niels, who made sure they ate and drank well, allowing them to watch some tv before he brought Angelo to bed. But when he got down again, he noticed his daughter had fallen asleep on the couch. As Niels put her bed, he kissed her forehead, whispering after: "Sweet dreams Emi, even while you're six, you're still daddy's little Princess, you'll always be!"

Niels smiled as he picked up his pen. It had been a gift to him, made by all of his family years ago. He had not touched it a lot yet, but he now felt the urge of writing something. After staring at the paper for a few minutes, he began to write: After sealing the letter and placing it where he knew Amanda would find it, Niels stared at a picture he took on the beach, and a smile formed on his face.
Niels smiled as he printed the picture. He could barely believe how much his family had grown ever since Emi had been born. Yet it was true, their family did expand, and their little ones were growing every day.
The day Angelo had turned two, Niels had been filled with joy at how good their little boy had grown. His injured arm was still getting stronger, but both him and Amanda had noticed Angelo was becoming more and more capable of using that arm. Their day at Niels and Amanda’s special spot confirmed this, as the little man ran around with his sister, grabbing stuff to bring them back to his parents. During this day, Niels had taken a few pictures, as the idea of gifting Amanda a picture frame had been in his mind for a while already. But it took some time to find a perfect picture. But once he had found it, all that was left to him was to find the perfect frame for it. So one morning, as he headed out into town to get his family some breakfast, Niels decided to stop by the photographer. He showed the man the picture he was going to print and asked the photographer which frames would go well with that picture. Soon, he had found a frame that was as perfect as possible, and he resumed his normal business. Now, with the picture printed, Niels carefully put it into the frame. He took some wrapping paper and carefully wrapped the frame in this. He smiled as he attached some ribbon to it before heading out into the living room to find his little family. A smile played around his lips as he saw them, watching the television. He smiled at them, sitting next to Emi, who immediately cuddled up to him. Playfully, he pressed a kiss to Amanda’s cheek, whispering: “I’ve got something for you...” He then handed her the package. When Amanda had opened it, she smiled widely and thanked Niels with a touched smile. She stood up to put the family picture on the mantle. Niels smiled more widely. Another idea of his had turned out well... |
