As Niels looked at Emi, examining how small and cute her newborn little sis was, he could do nothing else than smile. It had been a long day, but eventually little Eliana had been born, and she was all healthy.
Earlier that day, however, that hadn’t been too likely. After Niels had finally managed to wrestle a very sleepy Angelo into his clothes and had got Emi to dress, they had rushed off to the hospital. Once they had arrived there, luckily, Rico and Ceci had quickly turned up to take away the kids. This had been a good thing, since Niels hadn’t wanted to expose them to the stress this brought with it. Once the doctor had arrived, Niels and Amanda had listened to what she had to say. The news hadn’t been too well. A too high blood pressure… This wasn’t what Niels had liked to hear, certainly not after the explanation the doctor had given them. This could possibly have side-effects, and it could endanger them… Both the baby and Amanda… This wasn’t possible, he couldn’t let anything happen to her. This meant Amanda had to stay calm, and it was up to him to make sure Amanda didn’t stress out. It would lead to bad things if she did, so he sat there next to her, all day long. And he wouldn’t leave, not as long as she needed him. All night long, Amanda lived through fear, Niels could see that much, and he tried to stay strong for her. Deep inside, he was scared too, but he wouldn’t show it, not while she needed him most. So he continued to reassure her, he kept drying her tears, over and over. Deep inside, he hoped everything would be okay in the end… It just HAD to be… Time progressed, and Niels slowly wondered how long it would take for the little girl to be born. He truly had no idea, but he was hoping she would be born soon… Amanda proved harder and harder to keep calm, especially since the long hours seemed to make her more nervous. This called for drastic measures, so he gently pressed his lips to hers. The kiss seemed to calm Amanda a little, at least for some time. But as the time to push seemed to approach faster and faster, Amanda’s unrest was returning. Niels talked to her, and when it was time for her to push, he told her how he had faith in her, faith in a good end… This little motivational speech seemed to be all she had needed. Amanda began to push, and Niels had curiously looked down, wondering what his little girl would look like. When she was born, he had gasped softly, seeing this girl was tiny and purple, compared to when her sister and brother had been born. Amanda had asked the nurse to hold her, and the sight of that only made him feel more love. His love for the both of them was so immense, and it would only grow. When she started crying, a grin spread over his face. This was such an intense wailing, and it was hard to believe such a little thing could produce this much sound. But she could. After a while, the kids were allowed to come over. He had called Rico and Ceci, and they were allowed to visit too, but only for a short amount of time due to how fragile little Eliana was. When the children finally arrived, they both looked at the little girl in awe after hugging Amanda. It was hard to grasp, even to Emi, that their new sister was so tiny. Niels playfully whispered into Emi’s ear: “Happy birthday little girl, I hope you like your gift from mummy and me… Your little sister, Eliana Summer van Loon…” Emi answered him by nodding excitedly before doing a little dance, whispering after: “This is fun…” she looked at Eliana after again, “Hi Eliana!!”
