Week 1
Hello Miss Casas. My name is Emilia Paris van Loon and I'm 15 years old. I was born in Paris, France, raised in New York, and currently, my family is living in London. My parents' names are Amanda and Niels, so I did smile pretty widely when I ready your name, Miss Casas. I am the oldest of four. There's my brother Angelo, who's 11, Eliana, who's 8, and Niccolò who's 3. My favourite colours are yellow and pink, and my greatest passion is dance. I favour ballet, both contemporary and classical, but I also like other dance styles as well. I guess my second favourite would be jazz. One day, I hope to be a prima ballerina, perhaps at the Paris Opera Ballet or the New York City Ballet. Those cities feel most like home to me. Maybe I could even go to Julliard like my mother dreamt to attend when she was my age. I don't have many friends, but I do have a best friend named Madison and I hope to meet new friends here at Kensington. I'm looking forward to this year of class. Week 2 Five things I like and don't like about London: 1. I like the accents I hear. 2. I like seeing my grandparents and my young aunt Aubrey. 3. I like Big Ben. 4. I don't like being away from my aunt, uncle and cousins I grew up with in NYC. 5. I don't like the cold, dreary weather. Over all, I like being in London although I miss NYC.

Homeschooling has pretty much been Emi's life. She liked it too. She sort of had her own schedule, and she could even do some of her in-class assignments right from her bed at times. It was a bit lonely, however. She'd never been really good at making friends, but it was even more difficult making friends when you were homeschooled.
Now, Emi's family had returned to London. It was still uncertain of whether they would permanently settle down there, but now Emi and her siblings were enrolled in London's public school system. It made Emi a bit nervous. A new town, a new school. What if the kids didn't like her? She'd been also enrolled in the dance club, and she was a tad insecure. She'd been receiving private training and taking all sorts of dance classes her whole life, but this was different. This wasn't New York where she knew all of the teachers at her studio. She couldn't be the best dancer in her class. She had to establish an entirely new identity for herself. She had to earn recognition. For a while, she'd continued her private ballet lessons, mainly with her mum, but today, she was going to the studio that her other attended as a teen. It was nerve wrecking, knowing that she would immediately be compared to her mother. She'd seen the old dance footage of her mum. Her mum had been spectacular! What if Emi couldn't live up to that legacy? Taking a deep breath, Emi stared at her self in the mirror, dressed in dance clothes. She headed to her closet to pick out a tutu for class and hoped with all her might that she'd make a good impression today. First, she had to be interviewed and enrolled in classes, then she would possibly be called back for an audition for the elite company. "Emi?" It was her mum, knocking at her door. "We better get going." Emi selected a white tutu and took a deep breath. "Okay," she aid. "I'm ready." |
